Curata da Matteo Balduzzi, Emotional Geographies è l’ultima mostra di Tomaso Clavarino; la mostra esplora i temi della marginalità, dell’adolescenza, dell’incertezza attraverso il paesaggio della Valle del Po e del nord Italia.
Sviluppate tra il 2020 e il 2024, le serie in mostra —Ballad of Woods and Wounds; Padanistan; Like Ivy We Grow Where There’s Place For Us; Soft Like Grass, Rough Like Asphalt— sono presentate insieme per la prima volta all’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Toronto. Con un ricco linguaggio fotografico, Clavarino cattura un’Italia sospesa tra passato e futuro, alle prese con contraddizioni e cambi di identità.

Un progetto dell’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Toronto, del Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea – Mufoco, in collaborazione con il Trinity College in the University of Toronto, con il Patrocinio dell’Ambasciata d’Italia di Ottawa, sostenuto dalla Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea del Ministero della Cultura.

Curated by Matteo Balduzzi, Emotional Geographies is the latest exhibition by Italian artist Tomaso Clavarino; it explores themes of marginality, adolescence, and uncertainty through the landscapes of the Po Valley and Northern Italy.
Developed between 2020 and 2024, the series—Ballad of Woods and Wounds; Padanistan; Like Ivy We Grow Where There’s Place For Us; Soft Like Grass, Rough Like Asphalt—are presented together for the first time at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Toronto. Through a rich photographic language, Clavarino captures an Italy suspended between past and future, grappling with contradictions and shifting identities.

Presented by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto and the Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea MUFOCO (Milano – Cinisello Balsamo), in partnership with Trinity College in the University of Toronto, under the Patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Ottawa. It is supported by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
