In an era marked by the uncontrolled proliferation of images and the compulsive speed of visual consumption, the concept of the post-photographic blink describes a new perceptual condition: an intermittent, fragmented gaze, traversed by micro-moments that replace contemplation with automatic reaction and haptic perception. The image—ever more ephemeral, computational, and liminal—is no longer a stable object but a process, impulse, and datum.

This collective volume explores the post-photographic condition in its most unstable phase, structured in four sections: the politics of the gaze, algorithmic visions of artificial intelligence, critique of images, and artistic positions and practices. The essays investigate the mutating ontology of the image, its ethical and political implications, and the forms of its critical activation, while also reflecting on the profound transformations introduced by recent technological innovations that reshape the processes of production, circulation, and reception of contemporary images.

The authors contributing to this collective inquiry are artists and critics active on the contemporary Italian scene, many of them connected to the School of Photography at LABA Academy of Fine Arts, Brescia.
